| Thank you for inviting me to view this beautiful commemoration of your mother. She truly led an amazing life and her story is inspiring to those who were not fortunate enough to have met her. I hope that your family's love and strength is able to carry you through such a tough time and to keep your memories alive and strong. |

I am the elder daughter of Aunt 16 (Sophie Lam Lee Ching Sau). I last visited Aunt Mary Rose in her SF apartment during my business trip in Feb 2005. She showed me her much tressured photo albums and also took me to a nearby chinese restaurant for seafood. As expected, she paid for the meal without giving me a chance and before I left her apartment, I secretly left money in her handbag.
That was my last chance to say thanks to her and most unfortunately, my last chance to see her in person. Should I not have made a detour to SF on my way to the airport, I surely would feel regretful now.
To Aunt Mary Rose: I remembered you were in such pain walking up the stairs....Aunt Mary Rose, please rest in peace in the hands of god.
Yours sincerely,
Audrey |

| I still remember my grandma as the most happiest, entertaining, and the best grandma. She cared for and about me. She took care of me from when I was little to who I am now. I wouldn't be who I am today without my grandma. When I was little, she would always take me and my family out for crabs. She would take the crab meat out of the shell and give it to me to eat. When my grandma stayed at my family's house, she taught me how to knit and she even knitted a scarf for me. To this day I still treasure her smile. Throughout my life, she has taught me to smile on a good or bad day. My grandma is in my heart and always will be. I will miss her very much |

I miss my grandma and I wish she was still, here, with me. I remeber all the things she did for me. I wish she was still very healthy and taking care of us. She would bring me and my family to eat Chinese food and order crab for us to eat. That was my fondest memory.

| I really miss my grandma. Most of the time, I can't believe she's not with us anymore. I was always very happy to eat dinner with her at our favorite restaurants. I'll always remember her going to our performances, and never missing one. Even when she had trouble walking, she still went. She gave us presents whenever we achieved something good in school. I will miss everything about her. |

Dear Julia, Ulysees, Collin, Richard, Jeanne, Livia, Cordelia and Octavia, Thank you very much for the beautiful card that you sent me today. Mary Rose lives on in each and every one of you as the beautiful ceremony, web site and card illustrate. Mary Rose would be and was so proud of you all. You should all take deep solace in knowing that. I miss seeing her and her endearing smile at lunchtimes now as I make my way to the gym and Mary Rose used to be on her way back from lunch. Her smile was so touching and yet you knew that physically she was in great pain. She was always so elegant despite her phsical challenges. Her pain did not stop her from thinking of others and sharing goodies with her neighbors; leaving fanciful fruits on our doorsteps. Mary Rose was so generous and humble at the same time; if we returned her kindness she scolded us. When I learnt of her recent illness, I sent her a card to let her know that I was thinking of her. In spite of her heart surgery and now living with her family, Mary Rose responded with a fun, well written card. I treasure this card; it embodies her spirit and her beautiful demeanour. Mary Rose is a shining light to us all. I am honored to have had her as one of my neighbors. Thank you. Catherine. |

| A very beautiful way to commemorate a very beautiful lady. I am now a teacher, and try my best to keep my voice down, much like Mrs. Lim did with us - but I'm not nearly as successful as she was! I will never forget her. |

I remember, most of all, Mrs. Lim's smile. It was wonderful to have seen her again in person in 2004 at the S.F. DGS reunion.
I appreciate having this opportunity to learn more about her life through this website. Thank you for the effort. |

| Mary Rose is my fifth 'sister' and stayed with my family at Bonham Rd HK for a few years when she was a student at St Stephen Girls' School in the 1950's. She is the fifth girl in our counting of girls for her generation and we all called her 'ng kar tsia'. She is like an elder sister to me teaching me english and drawing beautiful ladies in ball gowns an asset in her husband fashion business. Her warm and gentle but brave personality has a great infleunce on me. I am glad that we had two trips together in recent years - to the Alaska cruise / Canadian Rockies in 2000 and attended the wedding of Calvin and Jeanie in Chicago and New York in 2002 when we could share our memories and thoughts and enjoy each other company. I I will miss her forever . Please keep in touch and visit me in Singapore whenever anyone of you pass by here |

You get a great mom. She is also lucky to have you all as her children. Do you know that I'm also a Lee girl too, may be that's why we get so close to each other even in the beginning when we first met. |

| Reading the guestbook entries from my Mom's ex-students and colleagues at DGS brought back many memories of her there, as she was my needlework teacher at DGS in additional to being my mother. From my viewpoint, she was definitely the best mother, teacher, and friend, and I will miss her always. |

I remember Mrs Lim was my Needlework teacher in Form I. She was nice as could be with such a gentle voice. She never scolded us, no matter how rambunctious we were or how many of her sewing machine needles we broke.
If she was such warm and caring teacher she must have been a wonderful mother and grandmother. My condolences to you her family.
I see two other familiar names here in the Guestbook... Mrs Kent, another kind, soft spoken and caring teacher.
And Edna Wong...THE young swimmer of our time back then. But also good person...
I guess birds of a feather do flock together.
This is beautiful site, thank you for letting us learn more about Mary Rose the person, who we knew as our teacher Mrs Lim. |

Dear Uly, So sorry to hear about your mother's passing. She was one of those rare teachers. You'd maybe have the luck to come across once in your lifetime who could have a lasting effect on one. She did on me! I think with Mrs Jane Shen and Mrs Rebecca Yip and people like Mrs Dorothy Kent, together they made learning fun. My class held a reunion in HKG a couple of years back, and we couldn't stop talking about your mother and her colleagues, they were that awesome. I think you and Richard were in my classes at DBS, right? I am so sorry for your loss. Your mother and all members of your family are in my prayers at this time. I am sure she is at peace, and happily reunited with your father in God's beautiful garden!

I also want to add that I liked Mrs. Lim so much that I invited her to one of my birthday parties. She couldn't come so I brought her a piece of my birthday cake the next day. She was so surprised!
Again, my condolences to the family.

Very sorry to hear of Mrs. Lim's passing. She was a wonderful teacher who was my class teacher in 1958-1959 when I was in Primay V. Somehow I remember her proudly announcing her son's name is Ulysses and the pictures of Ulysses' family answers my curiosity of how Ulysses and Mrs. Lim have done.
Tribute very well put together. Gives us a glimpse of Mrs. Lim's life Thank you

I was so sorry to hear of Mrs Lim passing away. Although I have not seen Mrs Lim since I left school, I have often thought with great affection and pleasure of those wonderful Junior school days. Mrs Lim was always soft spoken and gentle. I had not seen her raised her voice even once.

Mrs. Lim was my teacher and the mother of my childhood friend. She was one of the most selfless person I know, with a heart open to others. Her kindness, gentleness and patience touched many of us. She had been most kind to me, and I am glad I got to know her better during a trip to Oakland when I visited Jeanne. I will always remember the smile she carried on her face.

Mrs. Lim was my favorite teacher in primary school. I remember her very fondly. I think she was also the one who told me: Be not a jack of all trades but be very good in something!

| Norah Yuen Uyeda | 07/28/06, 07:24:25 |
Mrs. Lim was kind: she had me stay after school in Primary 5 and only write 5 lines of "I must not rock my chair" instead of the usual 250 or 500 lines required by all other teachers.
Mrs. Lim was talented: she can write the alphabet upside down BEAUTIFULLY. In demonstrating writing patterns, she can write letters upside down and while we marvelled, she simply said,"Well, I can't turn the blackboard upside down."
Mrs. Lim was a terrific cook: I will miss her marinated eggs and shrimp salad. The "side dish" she took to my sister's house was as plentiful as what my sister prepared, which is always a lot.
As Ulysses (Mr.s Lim's oldest son) said, the legacy his mother left was her "smile" and I can't agree more. Her smile brings a smile to my face, and I wil always think of her with fondness and affection.
Best always,
Norah Yuen Uyeda

Mrs. Lim was the only reason why I kept chugging away at maths. I failed miserably in Primary but at the Parent-Teacher conference, she told my parents I still had potential. My parents told me about it and, in Primary 4, I passed with 400 out of 400! Only Mrs. Lim could have such a point system - 400? Not 100?
I was re-reading a letter from our dear classmate, the late May Louiewho wrote in 1990s, "Do you remember Mrs. Lim and her weekly 'surprise' quizzes?"
We loved you, Mrs. Lim, because you loved us back, pure and simple.
With loving memories,
Libby

I am very thankful that I was able to attend my beloved teacher, Mrs. Lim's funeral service today, which was a lovely service. Through the sharing, I was able to learn a lot more about Mrs. Lim's life. My memories of her lovely smile (with dimples) will never fade and seeing the picture of her smiling face again brings back the fond memories of by-gone days.
